OUR STORY
AmeriBangla’s roots trace back to 2008–2010, when Brigadier General Siddiqur Rahman and businesswoman Salveen Siddique (both pictured) first explored exporting Nigerian cotton to Bangladesh, bringing their teenage son Aswar along. Political turbulence in both nations kept the idea from advancing, and the family shifted focus toward niche garment imports into the United States — a seed that would later inspire something much larger.
Fast forward to July 2024, when student protests in Dhaka toppled the Awami League regime. The upheaval shook Bangladesh’s economy and disrupted key trade flows, including the fast-growing cotton import market. Amid this uncertainty, Aswar Rahman founded AmeriBangla Corporation, registered in Delaware, to address inefficiencies and unlock opportunities in a trade corridor primed for transformation.
From the start, cotton stood out. The United States is the world’s second-largest exporter, and Bangladesh the world’s largest importer — yet only a small fraction of Bangladesh’s raw cotton came from American growers. To Aswar, this imbalance represented the clearest opportunity: a way to bring two complementary economies together, cut through layers of middlemen, and build a more transparent, efficient supply chain. Over the following months, he met with spinning mills, logistics providers, and risk-mitigation partners across Bangladesh, laying the foundation for a new model of trade.
Between December 2024 and April 2025, AmeriBangla began engaging with cotton growers and processors in the United States, starting in Georgia and extending across the Mid-South. At the Beltwide Cotton Conference in New Orleans, sourcing arrangements were initiated with large-scale, vertically integrated producers. At the Global Cotton Summit in Dhaka, the company analyzed inefficiencies in the cotton indenting industry. And at the Magic Expo in Las Vegas, AmeriBangla established relationships with major garment producers, exploring the potential for “full circle” production using American cotton.
By May–August 2025, AmeriBangla’s work bore fruit. The company secured its first cotton orders, with 18 of Bangladesh’s largest cotton consumers entering the sales pipeline. Partnerships were finalized across the supply chain — from sourcing and banking to transportation, warehousing, and risk mitigation. During this period, CottonPort Limited was established in Bangladesh as an importing and warehousing entity, designed to solve the pain points uncovered through a year of research and fieldwork.
In September 2025, AmeriBangla launched its first major investment drive, centered in New York City. The goal: raise capital for initial inventory purchases and warehouse operations in Bangladesh through the CottonPort model, turning the vision of full-circle trade between the United States and Bangladesh into reality.
